Movie and Book Reviews
bunny's inner thoughts

this summer, i've seen almost every movie that has come out. and so i'll be reviewing my favorites of the summer, and over the years...

i used to do a lot of reading, though i'll be the first to admit, i don't read as much as i used to. and so i'll be reviewing my favorite books (you may be surprised at one or two *wink*)

Movie Reviews

The Cell
"Wow" is the first thing that comes to mind with this movie. forget that Jenny Lopez is in it, you can barely recognize ('cept for that ass). the cinematography is amazing. the two different types of film they used in shooting it was absolute magic. (one for the life sequences, a darker, edgier film for the "dream" sequences) it completely brought the film to life. its brutal honesty when looking into the mind of a serial killer is amazing. the actor (i can't remember his name) did a remarkable job, playing 3 different characters, 3 different versions of himself. the visual effects were startling and beautiful in their grotesque ways (ex: the horse scene, all the way through). the plot... new and original, a very good script, for the most part. after i saw the film, i wasn't sure if i liked it... but now that i've had a few days to think it over, i agree with my boyfriend: it is a VERY good film. a real eye-opener.

Coyote Ugly
this is not a "theatre movie," it's a "rent-me movie." don't get me wrong, i loved the dancing on the bars, the seductive clothing on the women, and all (hell, i want to be a bartender, too), but all-in-all, nothing happened in the movie. she goes to new york, and finds she can't sing her own songs in public, she she works at a bar and does kareoke (or how ever you spell it). she gets a boyfriend, who tries to help her get over their fear... her father wants her to move back home. but nothing happens. i DID like the movie though - just, wasn't worth $11 to go see it, and it would've been a lot more comfortable on my bed, in pajamas, with popcorn, dr.pepper, and my best friend, with our hair in curlers.

Book Reviews

Eyes of The Dragon, by Stephen King
this is probably the most beautiful book i've ever read. the characters are fully exposed, so fully written, that you can see them clearly in your mind. the evil magician, Flagg, who is seen in several of Stephen's other books, has a quality to him that, even though you're supposed to hate him (and boy, can he make your blood chill sometimes) you can't help but appreciate the way Stephen writes about him, bringing him to life. the circle of friends in the book, each with their own story, only complete this fantastic adventure. this is one book i recommend to everyone: and everyone who does go out and read it always comes back and thanks me for introducing them to such a fabulous story.

Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher. (i can't remember who it's by)
this book... this was my first favorite book (can we see a pattern with dragons?) jeremy, an amazing artist for his age, is a sweet boy, who is constantly chased by a girl who wants to kiss him. the bullies are after him, too. one day, while running away from the girl and the bullies, he seeks refuge in a magic shop. in it, he finds a beautiful egg, its colours swirling like clouds on a windy day. he buys it (for a quarter), and takes it home, with instructions from the shop-keep (i can't remember his name either! it's been so long since i read this book). in a day or two, the egg hatches, and out pops a tiny sparkling red dragon. jeremy has to name it, for a human can never know a dragon's true name (but i found it LOL the shop-keep knows the dragon's real name, and if you read the book carefully, he mentions it...), so jeremy names the baby dragon Tiamat. this story follows Tiamats growth, from a dragon smaller than the palm of your hand, to one larger than a horse! luckily, Tiamat is invisble to everyone but jeremy... and the girl who wants to kiss him. so they're forced to become friends. "Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher" is an amazing book, one that will make you laugh (like when Tiamat follows Jeremy to school), cry (when Tiamat has to go home to the Dragon World), and grin with happiness.
